Spider Crater in Australia, about 13 km in diameter, photographed from space
NASA has published a satellite image of the Spider Crater impact structure in Australia's Kimberley region, acquired on September 20, 2026 by the OLI instrument aboard the Landsat 9 satellite. The structure, measuring about 13 by 11 km, resembles a spider: the central part formed when the crater floor was uplifted, while the light-colored 'legs' are sandstone ridges. The crater's exact age is unknown; estimates based on the age of the rocks suggest it formed roughly 600–900 million years ago.
