EU satellite sovereignty at risk: budget expires in 2027, and launches still rely on American rockets
In Brussels, at the European Parliament, a meeting took place between regulators, EU politicians and Barcelona-based company Sateliot about frequencies and space industry funding. The EU space budget (€14.8 billion, 2021–2027) is expiring, and the Commission is proposing a competitiveness fund with €131 billion for defence and space. A single 2 GHz licence and Europe's dependence on SpaceX for launches were discussed.
