Night operation on the Aishkho ridge
In the mountains of Sochi, rescuers evacuated a female climber who was injured on the Aishkho ridge, where the Medvezhyi Vorota (Bear Gates) pass is located. The Krasnodar Regional Emergency Rescue Service reported the incident on its channel in Max. The accident happened to the tourist the previous evening at 20:10: according to rescuers, her group contacted emergency services itself, but due to darkness and difficult terrain the woman could not descend on her own.
More than four hours of descent down steep slopes
The operation took the entire night. The rescuers drove to the start of route No. 13 and reached the pass on foot by 23:30. There they gave the climber first aid, then spent more than four hours lowering the stretcher with the injured woman down steep slopes, skirting rocky sections. At 4:10 the group reached the vehicle, and the tourist was taken to hospital.
A series of tourist incidents
This is not the only such case in the mountains of Sochi recently reported by Gazeta.Ru. On the evening of November 2, a 23-year-old woman, who had set out on a hike alone, injured her knee near the Aibga pass at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters and lost the ability to move on her own; as the weather worsened, she contacted emergency services. Earlier, in the Caucasus, a tourist was found who had fallen off a cliff during an excursion. Thus, the evacuation from Medvezhyi Vorota is already the third incident involving tourists in the region to be publicly reported in a short period; moreover, unlike the Aibga case, where the injured woman was hiking alone, this time the climber had a group that managed to call for help.
