Firefighting has been ongoing for more than a day
The fire on the premises of the Eskom pharmaceutical concern in Stavropol has still not been fully extinguished after more than a day, according to the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for Stavropol Krai. The blaze broke out on the morning of November 6 at a warehouse of the enterprise on Staromaryevskoye Highway. The fire was localized over an area of 400 square meters, but fire and rescue units continue to work on remaining hotspots.
What is complicating the rescuers' work
According to the regional Emergencies Ministry directorate, firefighting is being hampered by the building's layout, a large amount of flammable materials, and deformation of building structures in certain areas, which forces firefighters to act with particular caution. The agency stressed that there is no threat to the lives and health of emergency personnel or local residents; firefighting will continue until the fire is completely extinguished.
Second fire in two days
As Life.rureported, this is already the second fire at the plant in a short period: the first occurred on November 5 in an elevator shaft on the third floor of the building. At that time, the fire covered 30 square meters, 20 people were evacuated from the premises, and there were no casualties. After the repeat incident, Stavropol Mayor Ivan Ulyanchenko ordered an extraordinary meeting of the city emergency commission to discuss fire safety at enterprises.
