A new record on the roads of Abu Dhabi

The first production electric car capable of accelerating to 500 km/h is the Yangwang U9X hypercar from the Chinese company BYD. In a test run on the roads of Abu Dhabi, it reached a speed of 503.17 km/h. The result was officially confirmed by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and Guinness World Records, reports Kun.uz.

Previous achievement surpassed

The new run improved the model's own result: in September 2025, during tests in Germany, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme reached 496.22 km/h. Thus, over the year the figure rose by roughly 7 km/h, and the 500 km/h mark was broken for the first time by a production electric car.

According to BYD, the Yangwang U9X is equipped with four electric motors with a combined output of more than 3,000 horsepower. The company plans to produce only 30 such hypercars; their price is estimated at around $2.9 million.
