According to ACEA, battery electric car registrations in the EU rose 72.9% in September to 290,117 units, while the overall new passenger car market grew 9.3% to 971,048 units. Petrol and diesel car registrations fell 23.4% and 29.6%. Over the first nine months of 2026, electric cars reached a 22.7% market share.
