The leaders' conversation is not being prepared for now
A new telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump is not planned for now. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, answering a question from TASS, reports Gazeta.Ru. The question concerned the possibility of a conversation ahead of the trilateral talks on Ukraine and after the end of the US elections. “No, there are no such plans yet,” Peskov said.
Context: the talks in Abu Dhabi
Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine, with US mediation, will hold a new round of talks on resolving the conflict on November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi — US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff announced this. It will be the first meeting in a trilateral format after a break of almost nine months; the sides intend to discuss the terms of a ceasefire, security guarantees and humanitarian issues. According to Gazeta.Ru, Moscow and Kyiv previously agreed to resume the talks, but Washington's announced dates have not yet been separately confirmed. As previously reported, the US will be represented by Witkoff and Kushner.
Format and participants
Life.ru adds details: the Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi will be led by presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky. Earlier, the Kremlin ruled out the participation of European representatives in the upcoming meeting, citing the agreed trilateral format, but Peskov allowed that further discussion of a new security system in Europe would require dialogue with European states. Thus, at the moment only the dates and format of the consultations have been confirmed, while the question of contact between the two countries' top leaders remains open.
