A unified transport hub: what is proposed

Tashkent may get a unified transport hub combining two railway stations, the airport and the bus station. These measures are set out in a draft resolution approving the strategy for the comprehensive development of local passenger transport until 2030, as reported by Kun.uz. The aim of the proposal is to coordinate transport links between Tashkent and Tashkent Region so that passengers traveling by train, plane or bus can transfer between modes of transport more conveniently.

Suburban trains and metro transfers

For residents of Chirchiq, Yangiyul, Angren and Almalyk, the draft provides for a 1.5-fold increase in the number of suburban electric trains. In addition, it proposes organizing direct transfers from electric trains to metro stations.

Synchronizing schedules

To improve connectivity between modes of transport, the document provides for a revision of timetables: bus departure times are to be adjusted to match the schedules of passenger trains and flights. This should reduce waiting times during transfers for passengers arriving in the city by train or plane.

Status of the document

For now, the document remains a draft: the listed measures are presented as proposals and have not been adopted for implementation. The draft has been published on the Ministry of Justice's portal for the discussion of regulatory legal acts, where its text is available for review. The publication does not specify when the strategy will be approved or in what form the measures will be adopted.
