What the draft strategy provides for

The portal for discussing draft legal documents has published a draft presidential decree on approving the strategy for the comprehensive development of local passenger transport by rail, air and road until 2030, reports Gazeta. According to the document, large cities are expected to gradually build railway networks connecting railway stations and airports, bringing their number to three. Electrified lines are planned between Tashkent's Northern railway station and the new Tashkent airport, between the Urgench railway station and Urgench International Airport, as well as between the Bukhara railway station and the new Bukhara airport.

Hubs, routes and a unified platform

The strategy also envisages the creation of six major transport hubs in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus and Fergana, and the launch of at least 20 new public transport routes linking airports, railway stations and bus terminals. From January 1, 2028, it is planned to introduce a unified national digital transport platform called 'Bir yo'l', covering rail, air and bus services, a unified electronic ticketing system and the ability to plan a door-to-door journey. The draft decree is still at the discussion stage, so the listed measures are plans rather than adopted decisions.
