Three sections on three streets
Construction of bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes is underway in Tashkent on Shahrisabz, Amir Temur and Yangi Sergeli streets. This was reported by the Road Traffic Management Center, whose data was cited by Kun.uz. The works cover sections with a total length of about 5.1 km, and their completion dates vary: from November 30 to December 10, 2026.
Timelines for each direction
On Shahrisabz street, the works cover a 1 km section from Amir Temur street to Makhtumkuli street. They began on October 17 and are expected to be completed by December 1, 2026.
Amir Temur and Yangi Sergeli
On Amir Temur street, work is underway on a 2.73 km section from Yunusabad metro station to Bogishamol street. It is divided into two stages: the first — 1.43 km from October 24 to December 10, the second — 1.3 km from October 27 to December 10, 2026.
Yangi Sergeli
On Yangi Sergeli street, the upgrade will affect a 1.36 km section — from the intersection with Shota Rustaveli street to the pedestrian crossing toward Sergeli road. The first stage here is scheduled from October 24 to November 30, 2026.
Project goals and what drivers are asked to do
According to the Center, the projects are aimed at improving the efficiency of public transport, reducing travel time and making things more convenient for passengers. Drivers are asked to take into account possible temporary traffic restrictions during the repair period and to comply with road signs.
What this means for residents
In practical terms, this means that until early December, temporary traffic restrictions will be in effect on three major thoroughfares of Tashkent, and after the works are completed, dedicated bus lanes will appear on these sections. The Center's announcement did not specify specific detour schemes or the final design of the lanes; it also has not yet published data on which routes will serve the new BRT lines.
