First footage of the new MAZ

Belarus's Ministry of Industry reported on a meeting between the general directors of KamAZ and MAZ, Sergey Kogogin and Valery Ivankovich, and alongside the official photos published a photograph and video of a new-generation MAZ truck fitted with a cab from the KamAZ K5 series. This was reported by Gazeta.Ru.

What is known about the cab and the plans

The K5 cab is a joint development by KamAZ and Daimler, created on the basis of the Mercedes-Benz Actros module; it was adapted in terms of mounting points for installation on the Belarusian chassis. For MAZ, the Russian cab module represents a chance to move away from the outdated 5440 cab family, while for KamAZ it offers an opportunity to bring its production capacity — designed for 45,000 cabs per year and currently running at less than half — to fuller utilization. It was previously reported that a pilot example of the prospective MAZ-544757 tractor unit is undergoing testing in Minsk, with its presentation expected in the near future.
