Eye injury while playing with a flare gun
In Moscow, a 12-year-old schoolboy suffered a serious eye injury while playing with a signal flare gun. Gazeta.Ru reports this, citing the Telegram channel '112' Gazeta.Ru reports. The incident took place on October 31 in the Yuzhnoye Butovo district: during school holidays, two 12-year-old friends bought signal flare guns at a local store, went outside, loaded them with cartridges and began jokingly aiming at each other. During the game, one of the boys fired and hit his friend in the left eye, after which the victim was urgently taken to hospital.
What doctors diagnosed
The examination revealed serious damage: the child was diagnosed with a contusion of the eyeball, a lacerated wound and multiple foreign bodies in the cornea. The publication does not report on the victim's further fate. It is also unknown whether any question of responsibility is being considered — in particular, the sources do not clarify how 12-year-old children were able to buy flare guns at a store.
Context of other incidents involving children
In the same publication, Gazeta.Ru recalls two other recent cases. In the Leningrad region, a five-year-old boy suffered cardiac arrest after an ambulance visit and fell into a coma: his mother called medics because of wheezing and weakness in the child; after an injection and inhalation, he felt better according to her, but after the arrival of the second crew, the administration of adrenaline and the insertion of a catheter, the boy's heart stopped. The child was resuscitated, but he never regained consciousness. It was also previously reported that a Russian schoolboy suffered eye burnswhile trying to make a 'bath bomb'. These cases are not connected to each other, apart from the common theme of injuries and incidents involving children.
