Eating on a business trip without harming your digestive system
Physician-dietitian Elena SolomatinaCandidate of Medical Sciences Elena Solomatina, in a conversation with Sputnik radio, emphasized that even without access to a kitchen on a business trip, it is possible to maintain a complete diet using grains, vegetables, dairy products, and canned foods. The specialist noted that a change of environment and stress can impair the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract even in healthy people, so it is critically important to monitor the balance of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and fiber. As practical solutions for breakfast, the expert suggested buckwheat steeped in a thermos with fruit, or baby cereal diluted with water; for lunch, grains combined with meat or fish canned goods, cheese, and vegetables. Dinner, according to Solomatina, may consist of a sandwich made with whole-grain bread, cheese, and vegetables, or lavash with fish, egg, and greens.
The importance of planning meals
The dietitian paid separate attention to distributing calorie intake throughout the day, noting that shifting the main portion of the diet to the evening can worsen heartburn. To avoid overeating before bed and the digestive problems associated with it, Solomatina recommends planning meals in advance around the work schedule, which is especially relevant on business trips, where the daily routine is often disrupted.
