The appeal was rejected

The Moscow City Court has ruled that the fine imposed on rapper Morgenstern (designated a foreign agent in Russia) was lawful and rejected the appeal against the lower court's decision in an administrative case under Part 2 of Article 19.34 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses. This follows from information published in the court case registry, as noted by Gazeta.Ru.

Background of the case

According to RIA Novosti, cited by the outlet, in August the Savelovsky Court of Moscow fined the rapper 40,000 rubles for violating foreign agent obligations. For Morgenstern, this is the first fine under this article since his in-absentia conviction in a criminal case for evading foreign agent duties, which came with a large fine.

Collection of the large fine

Earlier, bailiffs began collecting a fine of 8.2 million rubles from Morgenstern over systematic publication of materials without the labeling required for foreign agents. The fine was initially 7 million rubles, and property was seized for a similar amount; in June the court increased the sum to 8.2 million. In addition, the rapper was previously deregistered from an apartment in Moscow.
