Ceasefire timeline announced
The ceasefire regime in the Russian-controlled city of Oleshky in Kherson region will last until 22:59 on November 1. This was announced by the head of the parliamentary faction of the Servant of the People party and member of the Ukrainian negotiating group, Davyd Arakhamia, on his Telegram channel, reports Daryo.uz. According to him, the ceasefire has been in effect since October 27, and he called the agreement
Where the ceasefire came from
Russia and Ukraine agreed on a temporary ceasefire in the Oleshky area as early as last week — to evacuate civilians and deliver humanitarian cargo. The ceasefire came into force at 04:00 Moscow time (06:00 Tashkent time). The agreement was reached at the initiative of US First Lady Melania Trump. Thus, Arakhamia's statement specifies the previously reached agreement, defining its exact framework: five and a half days, until the evening of November 1.
Why Oleshky specifically
The city has been under Russian control since 2022, and since the autumn of 2026 the humanitarian situation there has sharply deteriorated: due to continuous drone attacks, residents were left without food, electricity and necessary medical care. The critical situation attracted the attention of the international community: European Parliament Vice-President Pina Picierno announced a hunger strike to draw attention to the plight of residents, and Pope Leo XIV, in a phone call with Vladimir Putin, called for a ceasefire to evacuate the population and deliver aid. The Russian side rejects the accusations related to the situation in the city: according to Daryo.uz, in the conversation with the pontiff, Putin placed responsibility for the dire humanitarian situation in Oleshky on the Ukrainian authorities.
