What the president announced

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with healthcare and pharmaceutical sector workers, at which he announced a number of changes to the healthcare system starting next year. This was reported by Daryo.uz, and the president's press service published corresponding statements on its channel.

Artificial intelligence and new solutions

Starting next year, the country will launch 10 artificial intelligence systems in fields such as cardiology, hepatology, ophthalmology and hematology. According to the president, «new solutions will be introduced for remote patient monitoring, disease detection based on speech, and monitoring the safety of medicines». These solutions are intended to expand the use of AI in medicine and strengthen the application of new technologies in doctors' everyday work.

New management and pay system

Annual contracts will be signed with the directors of 26 specialized centers . Each director will take on commitments to implement innovations, improve the qualifications of primary care staff, and apply scientific developments in practice. To evaluate the centers' performance, specialists from clinics of leading foreign universities will be brought in: they will identify shortcomings and help define tasks for the managers. At the end of the year, the directors will report to the public, and contract renewal will depend on the results.

Public evaluation and competitions

It has also been instructed that, starting next year, mechanisms be introduced allowing the public to independently evaluate the work of every hospital and polyclinic at the republican, regional and district levels. The salaries of every doctor and nurse are planned to be tied to key performance indicators (KPI), where the main criterion will be public satisfaction with the quality of medical services. In each region, competitions for «Best IT Operator» and «Best Digital Medicine Doctor» will be held — the winners will receive 100 million soums each.
