Dealers report the disappearance of new Jettas
New cars of the Chinese brand Jetta have practically disappeared from Russian car dealerships, and dealers doubt that the manufacturer will resume supplies. This is reported by the publication «Китайские автомобили» (Chinese Cars) following a survey of official dealers: most of the sellers surveyed have run out of cars, and only in a few centers can remaining units still be purchased.
The situation in different cities
At one of the St. Petersburg dealerships, journalists were told that all cars had long been sold out, and the center now only handles service maintenance. The publication's source considers new supplies unlikely and links the uncertainty surrounding the brand to political circumstances. In Moscow, the situation was described differently: a representative of a dealership said that Jetta supplies had been suspended back in 2024 — at that time the dealership purchased a large batch of cars, the remainder of which it is still selling.
The company's position and sales
Back in March, Jetta representatives declared their intention to maintain a presence on the Russian market: the company promised to continue sales and warranty service, although no new model launches were planned for 2026. According to Autostat data cited by the publication «Китайские автомобили» (Chinese Cars), only 1,450 new Jetta cars were sold in Russia in the first nine months of 2026. The brand is a joint project of Germany's Volkswagen and China's FAW; its model range includes the VA3 sedan and the VS5 and VS7 crossovers.
Market context
The situation is unfolding against the backdrop of a changing structure of the Russian car market. Life.ru previously reported an 81.5% increase in sales of cars from well-known global brands over the first nine months of 2026; experts linked this dynamic to the development of parallel imports, with two-thirds of the foreign-brand cars sold having been produced at facilities in China. At the same time, market participants are preparing for new restrictions: according to Life.ru, from 2027, parallel imports may become more expensive due to an increase in the recycling fee and tighter Chinese export requirements. According to the forecast of auto expert Yuri Blinov, large dealers will try to stock up their warehouses in advance to temporarily hold back price increases.
Why this matters
The disappearance of Jetta from dealerships affects buyers of this brand and its owners: if supplies cease, the issue of warranty and service maintenance, which the company promised to preserve in March, becomes key for them. Against the backdrop of growing sales of global brands through parallel imports and the expected rise in cost of this scheme from 2027, the departure of another joint project of Volkswagen and FAW reduces the choice of affordable new cars. It remains unclear whether supplies will resume: dealers consider this unlikely, and the publication does not cite any official statements from the manufacturer about ceasing operations.
