Mass blocking of platforms selling banned supplements
In Russia, more than 55,000 internet resources offering banned biologically active supplements for sale have been blocked. This was reported by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor. According to the agency, the restrictions covered platforms selling supplements without state registration, products with violations of permissible content of regulated substances, as well as potentially dangerous complexes.
Which products came under the restrictions
Among the specific offerings discovered by the agency are Astragalus 500 mg capsules, NOW chewable tablets with methylcobalamin (vitamin B12), and the Epitalon peptide complex from PEPTA NOVA. According to Rospotrebnadzor, the inspection of online trade continues: specialists monitor listings, product cards and online store pages daily, identifying new offers to sell banned supplements.
Context: the risks of uncontrolled supplement use
The topic of supplement safety has recently been raised in other Life.ru publications. The outlet previously wrote that Russians are increasingly buying magnesium supplements in the hope of coping with stress, fatigue and constant tension: according to the data cited there, sales of such supplements have been growing by an average of 3% per month since the beginning of 2026. At the same time, the publication emphasized that taking magnesium without a doctor's prescription is dangerous, especially for people with chronic illnesses: excessive magnesium intake from supplements can cause diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain, and with impaired kidney function the risk of serious complications increases. Life.ru also reported a case in which a Russian woman ended up in the hospital after taking an Indian supplement, experiencing tongue numbness and a drop in blood pressure. Thus, the mass blocking of websites is taking place against the backdrop of growing demand for supplements and the discussed risks of their uncontrolled use.
