The key facts
- The Kant complex plans to open the season on November 20; the date depends on the weather
- Lata Trek has no information yet on when it will resume operations
- A doctor earlier named contraindications: arthrosis and cardiovascular diseases
Opening dates depend on the weather
The ski season in Moscow may begin no earlier than November 20. This was reported to RIA Novosti by representatives of the capital's ski complexes, as reported by Gazeta.Ru. The Kant complex said it plans to open the winter season on November 20, but the exact date depends on the weather: as soon as sub-zero temperatures set in, the slopes will begin to be covered with artificial snow.
The complexes differ in certainty
The situation varies among the complexes: while Kant names a specific tentative date, Lata Trek, according to the report, currently has no information on when it will resume operations. Thus, only the estimate from one complex can be considered confirmed, and a citywide season start date cannot yet be named — in both cases the final decision is tied to weather conditions.
Who should be careful on the slopes
Providing context for the start of the season is a recent comment by Antonina Zavadskaya, a traumatologist-orthopedist at the ORTEKA professional network, in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru: snowboarding and skiing can be a good sporting pastime, but they are far from suitable for everyone health-wise. According to her, those whose arthrosis already manifests with noticeable pain, joint swelling, or restricted movement should not risk skiing. A separate risk group is people with cardiovascular diseases: the heart may not withstand intense exertion. Earlier, Russians were also explained how to choose their first suit for snowboarding and skiing.
