A new protest on the left bank
On November 8, 2026, residents of Kyiv once again blocked roads over prolonged power outages. According to Life.ru, citing local Telegram channels, this time the protest is taking place on the left bank of the Ukrainian capital: disgruntled residents of one of the residential complexes have occupied a pedestrian crossing and keep walking back and forth across it, not letting cars through. In this way, city residents are trying to draw attention to the problems with the electricity supply. The same day, Gazeta.Ru also reported on the new protests in Kyiv citing the Ukrainian outlet Strana.ua, but its piece was, at the time of publication, only a brief note without details.
A week without power and cold apartments
Participants of the protest complain that in some buildings there has been no electricity for almost a week, and that apartment temperatures have dropped below +13 °C amid heating disruptions. According to residents, the prolonged lack of electricity has seriously complicated everyday life, especially for those living in cold apartments.
Protests repeat as the power grid situation worsens
This is not the first such protest: earlier, residents of Vinohradyar, Akademhorodok and Obolon also took to the roadway. Some said the electricity had been out for four or five days at a time, and after a brief restoration it went out again; at that time, according to Life.ru, residents of the Vinohradyar microdistrict took to the road. The situation worsened after reports of serious outages on Thursday, November 5. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned that the stable operation of the city's life-support facilities was highly questionable: according to him, damage to the energy infrastructure and ongoing strikes are complicating the restoration of electricity, heating and water supply, while city services are preparing for various scenarios.
