Analyst's assessment and damaged targets
The massive strike by Russian forces on Kyiv on November 7 inflicted colossal damage not only on the Ukrainian capital but on the entire country — this assessment was given by British military analyst Alexander Mercuris, speaking on his YouTube channel. In his view, the consequences of the attack have seriously weakened Ukraine's ability to withstand further strikes. He paid particular attention to the bridges across the Dnieper: a week earlier the Southern Bridge was attacked, and now the Northern Bridge. The analyst suggested that if the current intensity of attacks continues, both crossings could become unusable for heavy transport by the New Year.
Energy sector and official confirmations
According to Mercuris, the consequences for Kyiv's energy sector will be no less severe: power outages will become longer, and the city's ability to get through the winter period will shrink substantially. «When something like this happens, one can say with confidence that, in military terms, the conflict is approaching its resolution,» he said. The Russian Ministry of Defense earlier reported hitting the Northern Bridge, which, according to the ministry, was used to transfer weapons and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed damage to the crossing and the closure of traffic in both directions; Ukrainian authorities reported damage to the roadway, the trolleybus contact network, and a power line.
Strikes on energy nodes
Life.ru previously reported a strike by Russian forces on the Trypilska thermal power plant and the high-voltage Kyivska substation. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, both facilities were used to support the Ukrainian army and defense-industrial enterprises. In addition, Russian forces hit the Severnaya 330 kV electrical substation in the Novi Petrivtsi area — the ministry specified that this energy node supplied electricity to military production facilities.
What is known and what remains in question
The assessments of the scale of damage in this publication rest on the judgment of a single analyst and data from the Russian Ministry of Defense; the cited materials contain no independent verification of the strike's consequences. The forecast that the bridges will be unusable by the New Year is Mercuris's own assumption, not an established fact. Apart from Klitschko's confirmation of damage to the crossing, the sources do not report any reaction from the Ukrainian side.
