The capital without lighting
Kyiv was plunged into darkness after Russian strikes on energy infrastructure: footage published on the Novosti.Live Telegram channel shows dark streets and buildings without lighting, with only the headlights of passing cars visible. As Gazeta.Ru notes citing a post from the channel, emergency power outages had already been introduced in the city the day before, in the afternoon, due to the difficult situation in the energy sector following Russian attacks.
A closed bridge and damage
Last night, according to the defense ministry, Russian forces struck the Northern Bridge across the Dnipro, which was used to transfer weapons and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that due to the damage, traffic on the bridge is closed in both directions. The road surface, the trolleybus contact network and a power line were damaged; the blast wave also damaged five trucks at a nearby parking lot.
Utility problems ahead of winter
In addition to power supply and transport, the water supply issue has worsened: the city administration has once again begun discussing the installation of street toilets. How Kyiv is coping with transport and utility problems ahead of winter — in a Gazeta.Ru article. Separately, the outlet recalls that earlier the lights went out during Zelensky's interview — an episode illustrating the scale of power outages in the city.
