The key facts

  • Yellow danger level due to icy conditions extended for the night of November 7–8: from 21:00 to 09:00

  • The first snow in the region was recorded on November 3 — near Sheremetyevo, Zelenograd, and Istra

The warning has been extended for one more night

The yellow weather danger level has been extended in Moscow and the Moscow region due to icy conditions. As RIA Novosti was told by the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, the new warning will come into effect at 21:00 on November 7 and end at 09:00 on November 8. Overnight and in the morning, frost formation is also possible in certain areas of the capital region.

A series of warnings and the first snow

The yellow level means potentially hazardous weather conditions: due to slippery sections of roads, drivers and pedestrians are advised to exercise increased caution, especially in the morning hours. According to Life.ru, the warning has been in effect in the region for the third night in a row: the previous one covered the period from the evening of November 6 to the morning of November 7, and now forecasters have also warned about the following night. The weather changes began at the start of the week — the first snow fell in Moscow and the Moscow region on November 3, with precipitation recorded near Sheremetyevo, Zelenograd, and Istra in the Moscow region. At the time, forecasters noted that a stable snow cover should not be expected yet.

What is known and what remains unclear

The extension of the warning is a confirmed decision by the Hydrometeorological Center, not a forecast for the days ahead: it applies to a specific interval from 21:00 on November 7 to 09:00 on November 8. The publications do not say whether the danger level will be extended after Sunday morning. Forecasters publish up-to-date forecasts in the Weather section on Life.ru.
