Emergency warning declared in Sochi and Sirius

An emergency warning has been declared in Sochi and Sirius due to severe weather. According to Gazeta.Ru, citing the Main Directorate of the Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) for the region, black ice is expected on roads in the foothills and low mountains of Sochi and Sirius on the evening of November 7 and the morning of November 8. In addition, very heavy snow is forecast in the city's mountain zone throughout November 7.

Sea conditions and official warnings

Local authorities have also warned of sea conditions intensifying to force 3–4, with high waves of 0.8–1.5 meters. Visitors and residents of the city have been asked to exercise caution.

What happened before this

Earlier, the Sochi administration had warned of heavy downpours in Adler and the foothills of the Lazarevsky district; a blizzard hit the mountains of Krasnaya Polyana. Outside the region, a snowfall in Krasnodar left about 20 streets in the Prikubansky district without power, while Muscovites were warned about the appearance of 'black ice' on the roads. Thus, the new emergency warning for Sochi and Sirius adds to the already announced downpours the threat of heavy snow and black ice in the foothill and mountain zones, which primarily affects those planning trips to the mountains and along the foothill serpentine roads on November 7–8.
