A confident run-through on the eve of the start
Alexandra Trusova completed her preparation for the Grand Prix stage in figure skating in China with a confident training session in Shenzhen, as reported by Life.ru. In the main part of the session, the 22-year-old skater flawlessly executed a double Axel, a triple loop, and a combination of a triple Lutz with a triple toe loop — exactly the set of elements declared for the short program. After the run-through, she successfully landed a quadruple Lutz twice, one of the most difficult jumps in women's skating, worked on her spins, and left the ice five minutes before the end of the session.
A contrast with the previous day
The progress is evident against the backdrop of the previous day: according to Life.ru, the first training session began with a mishap — the organizers unexpectedly played someone else's music for Trusova. Her first quadruple Lutz in the run-through of the free program did not go cleanly: instead of four rotations, she completed three, landing on both feet. The athlete reacted to the mistake with a smile, and later managed the element several times, although individual attempts failed. Eteri Tutberidze and Sergei Dudakov observed the preparation.
Return to the series and schedule
For Trusova, the stage in Shenzhen marks a return to the international Grand Prix series after a five-year break. After the birth of her son Mikhail in August 2025, she resumed her career and in September 2026 took silver at the Kinoshita Group Cup in Japan, where she cleanly landed a quadruple Lutz in the free program — becoming, according to the outlet, the first female skater to land a quadruple jump at an international competition after giving birth. In China, she is competing under a neutral status, and among her rivals are world vice-champion Mone Chiba of Japan and Georgian skater Anastasia Gubanova, who has already taken silver at the stage in France this season. The women's short program begins on November 6 at 11:25 Moscow time, with Trusova taking the ice third, at 11:45; the tournament runs until November 8. After the Chinese stage, the skater plans to compete at the next stage of the series in the United States on November 13–15.
