Governor on plans to return to literature
Kursk Region Governor Alexander Khinshtein hopes that one day he will be able to write a book about his work leading the region. He spoke about this at the educational marathon 'Znanie. Edinstvo' (Knowledge. Unity) of the Russian Society 'Znanie', reports Life.ru. According to him, his current state duties leave no time for creative work: 'Unfortunately, today my current work does not allow me to engage in creative work. I console myself with the hope that someday I will have the opportunity to return to this pursuit, including, perhaps, describing my current work, because it is interesting.'
Context: writing career and the office
Khinshtein noted that history knows examples when statesmen became writers, and vice versa, so he does not rule out that in the future he will be able to combine both pursuits. He already has literary experience: he is the author of the historical-documentary and publicistic books 'Hunting for Werewolves', 'What Color Is Fear' and 'The End of Atlantis', and also took part in preparing for publication the memoirs of the first chairman of the KGB of the USSR, Ivan Serov, 'Notes from a Suitcase'. 'Creative work is very important, and I will not hide it, I regret that today there is no opportunity to engage in it, but the tasks at hand today are more important,' the governor emphasized.
What is known and what is not yet known
Khinshtein named neither the title of the future book nor the timeline for writing it — he only expressed hope that over time he would share his experience of governing the region. The statement itself came roughly a month and a half after his official inauguration: as Life.ru previously reported, the inauguration ceremony took place on September 21, 2025, after his election victory with 86.92% of the vote. Khinshtein was appointed acting governor by Vladimir Putin in December 2024.
