Modular cabins for ferry terminals

Turkish modular building manufacturer Karmod has delivered six Metrocity-series cabins for ferry terminals in the country's northwest, the company said in a statement on Friday, as reported by Anadolu. The cabins have been placed at the Narlı terminal in Yalova province and the Eskihisar terminal in Kocaeli province — three units at each location. They are intended for ticket sales and passenger check-in for the operator running the car ferry crossing between Kocaeli and Yalova.

Why a modular solution was chosen

Karmod Cabin general manager Zekai Küçük explained the choice of the modular format by the specifics of coastal areas: according to him, Metrocity cabins serve as a practical alternative where the construction of permanent structures is restricted. Thanks to their prefabricated and mobile design, they can be quickly installed wherever needed, while the structure itself is built to withstand a humid, salty maritime climate in compliance with building safety requirements. Each of the delivered cabins measures 1.5 by 2.5 meters.

About the Metrocity line

The company representative also noted that the cabins can be adapted to a specific client's corporate identity — Karmod has a dedicated design team for this purpose. The Metrocity line is produced in various sizes — up to 50 square meters — and is used by companies operating in ticket booths, kiosks and other commercial facilities on the coast.
