The extreme Bronco was unveiled at SEMA
At the SEMA tuning and automotive equipment show in Las Vegas, Ford presented a high-performance version of the Bronco designed for demanding operating conditions. Kun.uz notes that SEMA has been organized by the Specialty Equipment Market Association since 1967 and is considered one of the main events of the global tuning industry: in addition to new parts and finished projects, the program includes seminars and special events such as drift shows.
Technical specifications
The differences from the base Bronco are visually apparent: a raised suspension, 18-inch Weld off-road wheels, BFGoodrich tires with an outer diameter of 42 inches, an expedition roof rack, and an externally mounted fuel tank. Under the hood is a 7.3-liter Megazilla 2.0 gasoline engine designed for the Ford Super Duty series. The engine has been reworked: the block, pistons, and camshaft have been strengthened, higher-flow injectors have been installed, along with a different belt drive with a damper and a 3-liter Whipple supercharger. According to the publication, the upgraded unit produces more than 1,200 hp and 1,355 Nm of torque. It works in tandem with a 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission used in Ford heavy-duty pickups, and the suspension uses specially prepared Bilstein shock absorbers.
Purpose of the project
The Bronco Frostwarden is expected to be used in rescue operations in hard-to-reach areas, such as the Arctic. Sources do not report on series production or pricing: for now, this is about showcasing a concept project at the show, not a confirmed production model.
