The accident and the victim

In Lipetsk, an accident occurred on hot water supply networks on Litavrina Street, as a result of which a pregnant woman born in 2007 was injured — she was diagnosed with second-degree burns. The incident was reported by the city head Mikhail Shcherbakov in his channel on the Max messenger, while the Telegram channel '112' specified that the victim is 19 years old and is a local resident. The circumstances under which boiling water got onto the girl are not specified; the area of the burns, the victim's condition, and the expected duration of treatment are also still unknown.

The authorities' reaction

Mayor Mikhail Shcherbakov stated that the pipe rupture was recorded on the networks of the company 'RIR Energo' and addressed the company directly. 'This is already a systemic problem. Now, as a result of an accident, a person has been injured. Referring to network wear and tear is not enough. The company is responsible for their condition and is obliged to take measures,' he wrote, adding that what happened requires a serious investigation. According to the city head, the situation is under the personal supervision of Liliya Samoshina, the Minister of Health of the Lipetsk Region. The prosecutor's office, as noted by Gazeta.Ru, has taken the investigation of the situation under its control.

What remains unknown

No information is provided on how many consumers were affected by the accident or when the repair work is expected to be completed. The incident in Lipetsk became yet another in a series of recent utility accidents with victims: it was previously reported that in Kolpino near St. Petersburg, a woman and a ten-year-old child were scalded when a heating main burst, and in Vladivostok on Balyaev Street, a stream of water several stories high gushed from a heating pipe during rush hour, flooding the bays of a car service center and nearby parked cars.
