Sentence for a fatal beating

In Moscow, the Lyublinsky District Court sentenced a man to seven years in a strict-regime penal colony for fatally beating an acquaintance who had taken a mobile phone from his six-year-old daughter. The sentence took into account the convict's previous conviction for robbery. This is reported by Life.ru citing the MK.ru website.

How the events unfolded

According to MK.ru, the 27-year-old acquaintance tricked the child into trading the gadget for a piece of candy. Upon learning of this, the father came to the apartment on Krasnodonskaya Street, where the acquaintance was drinking in company, and beat him — the assault lasted about half an hour. None of those present intervened, and a video recorded by one of the women later became evidence. The attacker demanded the phone be returned within two days, but the victim died in hospital. The man admitted his guilt after being detained.

A separate case in Primorye

The same Life.ru report mentions another incident unrelated to the Moscow case: in Primorye, a man accused of killing a schoolboy in a cinema was arrested. According to the investigation, during an argument an intoxicated visitor stabbed a 16-year-old teenager in the chest, and the young man died at the scene.
