Collision on the Razdolnoye — Khasan highway

In Primorsky Krai, a Far Eastern leopard — a rare predator listed in the Red Book — died in a road accident. The incident was reported by the Telegram channel 'Vladivostok, Primorye, Russia', which is cited by Gazeta.Ru. According to the channel, the accident occurred at night on the Razdolnoye — Khasan highway near the village of Kravtsovka: a young male leopard suddenly darted onto the road through a guardrail.

Consequences for the driver and the animal

The driver tried to avoid the collision, but the car still struck the predator and then overturned. The man behind the wheel was injured. After the impact, the leopard managed to leave the roadway, but did not get far: specialists who arrived at the scene found the rare predator already showing no signs of life.

Context

Gazeta.Ru also recalls another recent incident involving wild animals on the roads: on the morning of November 5, an elk got stuck in a swamp in the Matushkino district. Rescuers helped it get out, after which the animal headed toward Panfilovsky Prospekt, and traffic on the road was closed. Earlier, a motorist from Primorye filmed a well-fed tiger on video. Unlike the leopard case, these episodes ended without the death of any animals.
