Outcomes of the Brussels meeting

The European Commission presented data on cumulative support for Ukraine: since the start of the conflict, the EU and its member states have sent Kyiv €231.5 billion. The statement was made following an international meeting in Brussels, as reported by Life.ru. The European Commission emphasized that in terms of total aid volume, the EU outpaces Ukraine's other international partners.

What is included in the sum and who took part in the discussion

According to the European institutions, the €231.5 billion includes not only direct financial assistance but also military supplies, humanitarian programs, support for Ukrainian refugees, and income from frozen Russian assets. The discussion on further support for Kyiv was held with the participation of technical delegations from NATO, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Ukraine, and the World Bank.

Plans for 2027 and Kyiv's request

Earlier, the European Commission proposed sending Ukraine an additional €45 billion in 2027: €31.7 billion is planned to be allocated for military needs and the development of the defense industry, and €13.3 billion for budget support. At the same time, according to Life.ru, Kyiv has requested an additional €70 billion on top of the already planned funding. The decision on allocating the funds still has to be approved by the Council of the EU, meaning this remains a proposal rather than an adopted commitment.
