The verdict upheld on appeal
The First Cassation Court upheld the verdict against a female lawyer who resisted the seizure of phones in an investigator's office. The punishment was 320 hours of compulsory community service for interfering with an investigation, reports Life.ru.
What happened in the investigator's office
The conflict occurred in July 2024, when the lawyer came to an interrogation together with her client. The man had earlier handed her one of the phones as payment for legal services. The investigator decided to detain the accused and conduct a search, while the lawyer insisted that both devices lying on the table belonged to her and could not be seized. One of the phones recorded the altercation: the investigator kept repeating 'Stop the clown show!', while the woman shouted 'Don't touch me!'. At some point she ended up on the floor. Later, both participants of the conflict had abrasions documented by doctors, and a criminal case was opened against the lawyer, writes the MK.ru website.
A separate case in Stavropol Region
In addition, Life.ru recalls another case unrelated to this proceeding: in Stavropol Region, a lawyer was accused of stealing 37 million rubles from his client. According to the investigation, he promised to secure a lighter charge and sentence, although he had no ability to influence the decisions of law enforcement or the court.
