  • Como, with nine points, climbed to fourth place; Lens, with three, are 33rd

A rout in Lens

Italian Como crushed French Lens 9:1 in an away match of the fourth round of the Champions League league phase. This was reported by Life.ru. The hero of the match was Greek forward Anastasios Douvikas, who scored a hat-trick: he opened the scoring in the seventh minute and then struck in the 32nd and 57th.

Course of the match

Six more goals came from Nico Paz (40th minute), who after his goal showed a photograph of Jesús de Miguel, a deceased Tenerife player, Łukasz Da Cunha (47), Marc-Oliver Kempf (54), Mattia Liberali (62), Martin Baturina (69) and Matteo Papaccioli (90+2). The hosts' only goal in the 65th minute was credited to Ruben Aguilar.

What this changes in the table

The win gave Como their ninth point after four league-phase matches and lifted them to fourth place in the overall table: three wins and one defeat. Lens, with three points after four matches, dropped to 33rd place. Thus, after half of the allotted league-phase rounds, the Italian club sits in the zone that secures high positions at the end of the phase, while the French side is in the lower part of the table.

Another result of the round

Separately, in the same round Turkish Fenerbahçe beat Liverpool 3:2 in Istanbul; for the English club, as Life.ru notes, it was their first defeat in the current Champions League. This is a standalone match, unrelated to the Como–Lens game.
