Opta ranking top 10

The analytical outlet Opta has updated its Power Rankings of the world's strongest football clubs, as reported by Daryo.uz citing the publication. First place went to London's Arsenal with 100 points — the highest score on a scale where team strength is rated from 0 to 100. Second place belongs to Munich's Bayern (98.9), with Manchester City (97.3) rounding out the top three. They are followed by Barcelona (97.0) and the reigning Champions League winner PSG (96.8).

Who else made the top ten

The remaining spots in the top 10 were distributed as follows: Real — 95.9 points, Liverpool — 95.3, Brighton — 95.1, Chelsea — 93.8 and Aston Villa — 93.6. Thus, English clubs occupy half of the places in the top ten, with Brighton and Aston Villa finishing ahead of Chelsea — a rare occurrence in rankings of this kind, when clubs outside the Premier League's 'big six' place so high.

How the ranking works

According to Opta, the Power Rankings cover more than 13,500 men's and over 2,500 women's football clubs worldwide. Its distinctive feature is that it allows comparing the strength of teams playing not only within a single league but also across different countries and leagues — which is why Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1 clubs appear side by side in a single list.
