What was presented in Bukhara

During Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Bukhara region, a presentation of Vietnamese ROX Group's projects in Uzbekistan took place, the president's press service reported. The company plans four urban development projects: two in Bukhara region, one in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent and one in Samarkand. Their total area is 285 hectares, investments are preliminarily estimated at $4.5 billion, and they are designed for 115,000 residents.

What will be built and where

In Bukhara, construction of a residential array has already begun on a 25-hectare site, and in Bukhara district on another 65 hectares. There, multi-story housing for 30,000 people will be built, along with hotels, business centers, retail, service and entertainment facilities. The Samarkand project is aimed at expanding infrastructure around the existing tourist complex, while in the Uchtepa district the plan is to create a modern urban environment. In addition, the investors proposed establishing an industrial zone in the Zaamin district of Jizzakh region. The president approved the concepts and instructed responsible officials to work out the implementation mechanisms and necessary infrastructure together with the company.

How this relates to earlier plans

The figures presented refine earlier statements about cooperation with ROX Group. It was previously reported that Uchtepa City, a 37-hectare project with $1.5 billion in investments, was planned in the Uchtepa district; Tashkent deputy khokim Sharof Rakhmonov also spoke at the time about cooperation in the financial sphere. The company's founder, An Tuan Chan, stated his intention to implement 'large, long-term and stable investment projects.' For Bukhara, individual initiatives were previously known — a $105 million tourist center on 50 hectares and a congress hall with hotels for $136 million; now the company has disclosed the combined parameters of four projects at once. ROX Group is a Vietnamese diversified investment group founded in 1996, operating in real estate, energy, banking, hospitality and services.
