What was decided at the meeting on labor migration
On November 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on priority tasks in the field of labor migration, as reported by the press service of the head of state (material prepared by Spot.uz). According to the president, there is an opportunity to employ 287,000 people in 34 countries, but informing citizens about vacancies abroad is insufficiently organized. The solution is to bring information about jobs down to the mahalla level: announcements must include requirements for specialists, necessary languages, and training opportunities.
How the new scheme will work
Mahalla 'sevens' will explain to citizenswho wish to work abroad the existing opportunities and enter their data into the 'Online Mahalla' platform. Khokims and responsible agencies are accountable for targeted training of candidates in their profession and language and for their subsequent guaranteed employment. Multi-level oversight has been established: regional (viloyat) khokims will critically review the results of the work once a month, and district khokims twice a month, with the participation of those responsible for migration and the 'sevens'.
The role of diplomats and context
The president called on Uzbek diplomats abroad not to limit themselves to signing agreements with employers: as part of economic diplomacy, they are to consistently address issues of quota allocation, work visa processing, and recognition of qualifications. Spot also recalls that it was previously reported that the first group of Uzbek seasonal agricultural workers was sent to Italy, and that there are plans to adapt personnel training at 20 technical colleges to the requirements of foreign companies.
