A vacation that ended at the dermatologist's office
A family from Volgograd with a 10-year-old daughter encountered bed bugs while staying at the Panorama hotel in Kislovodsk. The tourists told the SHOT PROVERKA Telegram channel about it, and Life.ru also reported the incident. Bites appeared on all three of them shortly before the end of the trip, and their condition worsened on the way home. The head of the family suffered the most: itchy bumps covered his face, head, neck and chest.
Diagnosis, treating belongings and complaints
After returning to Volgograd, the couple sought medical help, and the family members were diagnosed with allergic contact dermatitis. Fearing they might bring the insects into their own apartment, they washed their clothes at high temperatures, steam-treated the rest of their belongings, and left the suitcases in the garage for now.
The response of oversight bodies and the hotel
After the family contacted Rospotrebnadzor, the hotel owner received a warning for failing to treat the room against bed bugs. The tourists sent the hotel management a pre-trial claim demanding compensation for health damage and moral harm, but, according to them, the administration did not respond to the demands. Now they intend to seek compensation through the courts.

One of the victims arrived at the hotel with her 11-year-old daughter, and after the very first night bite marks appeared on their bodies. At another hotel, a couple found insects on a pillow, but, according to them, the staff limited themselves to providing an extra blanket. The Kislovodsk case stands out because it led to an official response: the oversight agency issued a warning, and the dispute moved into the legal arena.
