Handover of equipment and participants
As part of the International Week of Innovative Ideas InnoWeek–2026, the South Korean company TYM has donated 50 agricultural tractors running on gas fuel to Uzbekistan. The recipients were research organizations, higher education institutions, and the Youth Technopark. This was reported by Zamon.uz. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education Mehriniso Pardayeva, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jamshidjon Abduzukhurov, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan, Won Do Yeon.
The project and its funding
The delivery took place under the project “Creation of an agricultural machinery platform based on environmentally friendly fuel,” implemented in 2022–2026 with grant funds from the government of the Republic of Korea through official development assistance (ODA). The partners are the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), the Agency for Innovative Development, and Uzavtosanoat JSC. The project aims to adapt agricultural machinery to gas fuel, establish an R&D center in this field, and develop local engineering capacity.
What has been done and what lies ahead
According to the outlet, the project has completed construction of the research center building on the territory of the AgroTech agricultural machinery cluster in Chirchiq; equipment worth more than 6.5 million dollars has been supplied for its outfitting. About 50 local specialists have upgraded their qualifications at Korean research institutes and production facilities. The tractors underwent field tests at the AgroTech site with the participation of TYM specialists and received a certificate from the Scientific Center for Testing and Quality Control under the Technical Regulation Agency. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026; its results are expected to help convert agricultural machinery to environmentally friendly fuel and introduce new engineering solutions.
Ambiguity in the description of the fuel
In the Russian-language version of the publication, the tractors are described as running on liquefied natural gas (LNG), whereas the Uzbek-language version of the same outlet calls the fuel “siqilgan tabiiy gaz” — compressed natural gas. These are different types of gas motor fuel, and the publication does not clarify which one is actually used; clarification requires consulting the project's primary documents.
