54 administrative cases in a month and a half
A resident of Moscow has become a defendant in 54 administrative cases related to extremism articles over the course of a month and a half. This was reported by RIA Novosti,, as retold by the outlet Gazeta.Ru. As specified, in September the man was held liable for 30 episodes at once under Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses — propaganda or public display of the attributes or symbols of extremist organizations. For each such episode, the law provides for a fine of up to 2,000 rubles, 15 days of arrest, or 100 hours of compulsory work.
New episodes and what remains unknown
On October 30, new materials were submitted to the court against the same Muscovite — this time for 24 episodes under Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (inciting hatred or enmity). The penalties under this article are harsher: a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 rubles for each offense, 15 days of administrative arrest, or up to 100 hours of compulsory work. At the same time, neither the nature of the man's actions nor the specific punishments imposed by the court in these cases are disclosed in the publications — this is a significant limitation that makes it impossible to assess the outcome of the case. Earlier, according to Gazeta.Ru, a former candidate for the legislative assembly of Primorye was also suspected of extremism — a separate story unrelated to the Moscow case.
