Aid to residents of Alyoshky

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus, in a video address published by the Vesti news service, said that clergy and staff of the patriarchal humanitarian mission are helping residents of Alyoshky in the Kherson region. According to him, they are delivering household, food and humanitarian kits, as well as providing spiritual support to people who, in his words, have become 'hostages of a difficult situation'.

Preparing the 'road of life'

Earlier the military correspondent of Life.ru reported on preparations for a 'road of life' for the evacuation of Alyoshky residents. According to his information, about one and a half thousand people remain in the city without electricity and running water. To ensure the passage of humanitarian convoys, sappers are clearing routes of mines, and repair units are removing from the roads the shells of vehicles destroyed by drones. Once this work is completed, those who wish will be able to leave the city, while those who stay are promised deliveries of food, medicine, generators and fuel.

Context

The patriarch's report on the clergy's work is consistent with the picture previously described by the military correspondent: the city remains cut off from basic supplies, and aid to residents — both the delivery of kits and the preparation of an evacuation route — is proceeding in parallel. Neither the timeline for completing the route clearance nor how many residents will use the evacuation is reported in the publications.
