November forecast

Uzhydromet has published the weather forecast for November in Uzbekistan. The average monthly air temperature is expected to be around the norm, and in some places 1–1.5 degrees above it. This was reported by the outlet UzNews.uz citing forecasters.

How the temperature will change

The first ten-day period of the month will be relatively warm: at night mostly +5…+10, during the day +17…+22 degrees. In the second and third ten-day periods the temperature background will drop — at night from +3…+8 down to −2…+3, and during the day from +15…+20 down to +5…+10 degrees. Precipitation, mostly in the form of rain, is forecast on certain days of the month; during cold spells a brief transition of rain to snow is not ruled out. The monthly precipitation total is expected to be around the norm, and in some places below it. The same figures are cited by Gazeta.uz, referring to Uzhydromet; the original forecast is posted on the hydromet service's website.

How November usually differs from October

Along with the forecast, Uzhydromet provided climate reference data for November. According to climatology, the average temperature in November is 6–7 degrees lower than in October, and in the north and desert areas 8–9 degrees lower; the influence of cold air masses from the north and northwest intensifies, which increases the likelihood of sharp cold snaps. In the south the temperature regime is milder, while cold arrives in the north earlier and more strongly.

Records of heat and cold

Absolute temperature minimums across most of the republic were recorded in the last century: in the coldest Novembers the air cooled to −19…−24, in the north of Karakalpakstan to −28…−31, and in the far south to −12…−15 degrees. In this century, minimum temperatures across most of the territory were −10…−15 degrees — such values were recorded in November 2020 and 2016. In Karakalpakstan and Khorezm it was colder in 2006 and 2016: down to −18…−21, and on the Ustyurt Plateau down to −26…−28 degrees. Absolute maximums for November are +30…+33 degrees across most of the country and +26…+28 in Karakalpakstan and the Fergana Valley; most of these records were set in the current century.

Precipitation and anomalous years

The warmest November in the entire observation period was that of 2023, when the average monthly temperature exceeded the norm by 3–6 degrees, and across most of the republic (except the northern and desert areas) the temperature did not drop below zero. The rainiest was November 2011: then precipitation exceeded the monthly norm by 3–3.5 times across most of the territory and by 4–7 times in the far south; snow formed an unstable cover several times, reaching 20 cm by the end of the month but lasting in that form for only two days. At the same time, the observation history also includes abnormally dry Novembers with precipitation amounts ranging from 1% to 30% of the norm. In ordinary years, the monthly precipitation total in November is 30–55 mm, and in foothill and mountain areas 60–110 mm.
