New destinations and launch dates
The Turkish budget airline Pegasus Airlines plans to launch regular passenger flights from Istanbul to three Uzbek cities — Bukhara, Andijan and Termez. This is reported by Gazeta.uz and Spot.uz citing an advertisement in the carrier's mobile app and the company's website, where ticket sales are already open under the headline 'We now fly to Uzbekistan'. Kun.uz clarifies that the flights will operate from Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW), one of Pegasus's main transfer hubs.
Dates, prices and fare conditions
The following launch dates are planned: Bukhara — from 14 December 2026, Andijan — from 18 December 2026, Termez — from 1 March 2027. Tickets from Istanbul are sold from $99, or from €89.99 including taxes; the exact price depends on the route, date and seat availability. Kun.uz also gives the price in sums — from 1.2 million. As Gazeta.uz notes, the cheapest international Light fare does not include free checked baggage or standard carry-on: free of charge, passengers may take only a bag weighing up to 3 kg and no larger than 40×30×15 cm, to be placed under the seat; additional baggage is paid for separately.
Official confirmation and a years-long history
The carrier's entry into the Uzbek market is confirmed not only by advertising but also by documents from aviation authorities: according to the register of the Civil Aviation Agency, on 6 October 2026 the company received operating permit No. 58-K for passenger transportation. The market entry is the result of lengthy discussions: in May 2019 the State Committee for Tourism Development reported negotiations with Pegasus and the Greek Orange2Fly about flights to Uzbekistan, and in January 2021 the company again expressed interest in opening routes, including for the development of pilgrimage tourism, discussing the capabilities of Sabiha Gökçen airport with an Uzbek delegation.
What this changes for passengers
The practical significance of the launch lies in giving residents of the regions access to the low-cost carrier's transfer network: according to Gazeta.uz, the new routes will make it possible to fly via Istanbul to European cities, including London, Manchester, Paris and Prague, without travelling from the region to Tashkent. Previously there was no direct service with the Turkish low-cost carrier, and its plans to enter the market had remained at the negotiation stage since 2019; now ticket sales are open and the regulator's permit has been obtained. However, the outlets do not report the flight frequency or the aircraft type — these details have not yet been disclosed.
