The key facts
- Central Kyiv and the Obolon district were left without electricity

- Earlier, restrictions were introduced in the Bila Tserkva, Bucha, Obukhiv and Fastiv districts of Kyiv region
Power outages in central Kyiv
Central Kyiv was left without electricity; Ukrainian media published footage of streets plunged into darkness. City authorities said the cause was scheduled outages, not an accident in the power grid, reports Strana.ua (based on Life.ru materials). The Kyiv City State Administration explained that hourly electricity supply schedules are in effect in the capital, and the outage in the center is related precisely to this. Power problems affected not only the central districts: electricity is also absent in Kyiv's Obolon district.
Restrictions in Kyiv region
Earlier, emergency power outages were introduced in four districts of Kyiv region — Bila Tserkva, Bucha, Obukhiv and Fastiv districts. According to DTEK, the cause was damage to energy infrastructure. Thus, the situation in the capital and the region is described differently by authorities and power engineers: in Kyiv the outages are explained by scheduled hourly schedules, while in the region — by infrastructure damage.
