The army's statement over 24 hours
Yemen's armed forces reported that over 24 hours, as part of Operation Yemen Dawn, they carried out 749 operations against Houthi positions on several fronts. According to the army's official spokesman, Colonel Majed Abdullah al-Nuaili, the targets were command posts, fortifications, firing positions, reinforcements, and the group's supply routes. The statement was published by him on the social network X, as reported by the Anadolu agency.
What was claimed about the results
According to al-Nuaili, the attacks disrupted the work of the Houthi field command, suppressed firing positions, and cut off frontline units from reinforcements and supplies. The result was 239 neutralized commanders and fighters, as well as 117 destroyed or damaged military vehicles and pieces of combat equipment. The army and allied Popular Resistance forces, the spokesman said, are consolidating on captured positions and increasing pressure on Houthi positions in the southwestern province of Taiz. He added that operations are continuing on the fronts in the provinces of Al-Jawf, Marib, and Al-Bayda, as well as on the southern and southwestern directions, and that the military is acting according to plans, taking measures to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Context and verification
The figures cited by the army cannot be independently verified — a caveat the source itself acknowledges. The statement came amid intensified fighting between government forces and the Houthis, who have controlled the capital Sanaa and a significant part of northern Yemen since 2014. Government forces and their allies, as part of Yemen Dawn, are advancing on several fronts, including Taiz, Marib, and Al-Jawf; the Saudi Arabia–led coalition is also carrying out airstrikes on Houthi military facilities amid renewed cross-border missile and drone attacks. The conflict, which began with the capture of Sanaa in 2014 and the Saudi intervention in March 2015, has led to one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world: millions of people depend on humanitarian aid.
