The award at the anniversary ceremony in London

Paris Saint-Germain, whose squad includes Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, has been named the best men's football club of the 2025/26 season by France Football. The winner was announced on October 26 at the Ballon d'Or ceremony at the London Palladium theatre, as reported by Gazeta.Ru and Life.ru. The landmark 70th ceremony was held outside France for the first time: London was chosen because the first Ballon d'Or winner in 1956 was the Englishman Stanley Matthews.

Five trophies and a repeat of last year's success

According to Life.ru, this is PSG's second consecutive win in the best club category. Over the past season the Parisians claimed five trophies: the Champions League, the French championship, the UEFA Super Cup, the French Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. The team won Europe's main club competition for the second year in a row. Spanish side Barcelona was named the best women's club of the season — their third award in four years; their players won the Women's Champions League, the Spanish league, the Cup and the Super Cup.

Safonov misses out on the Yashin Award

Matvey Safonov was nominated for the Lev Yashin Award, given to the world's best goalkeeper, but the award for the 2025/26 season went to Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simón, who finished ahead of the Russian in the voting. At the ceremony, PSG was represented only by the injured forward Ousmane Dembélé: most of the team's players missed the event because of the home match against Lyon, rescheduled for October 26. Dembélé accepted the award on behalf of the club. In total, ten PSG players were among the contenders for individual awards; it was Dembélé who won the Ballon d'Or in 2025.
