The title returned to Barcelona
Barcelona received the award for the best women's club of the year at the Ballon d'Or ceremony held at the London Palladium theatre. According to Life.ru, the Catalan side reclaimed the title: they won it in 2023 and 2024, while in 2025 the award went to London's Arsenal. Club president Joan Laporta accepted the award on the club's behalf, thanking the players, the coaching staff, the management and the fans.
A season with four trophies
The main argument in Barcelona's favour was the 2025/26 season, in which the team under Pere Romeu won four trophies: the Spanish league, the Spanish Cup, the national Super Cup and the UEFA Women's Champions League. In the final of the main European tournament, the Catalans beat French side Olympique Lyonnais 4-0. In addition to the club award, the ceremony also honoured individual members of the team: goalkeeper Cata Coll was named the best goalkeeper of the season, midfielder Vicky López was named the best young player for the second year in a row, and Romeu himself was named the best coach of a women's team.
Putellas is a three-time Ballon d'Or winner
Among the other results of the ceremony was Alexia Putellas winning the women's Ballon d'Or. The Spaniard received the award for the third time in her career: previously she was named the world's best player in 2021 and 2022. At the time of the award presentation, Putellas was already playing for the English club London City Lionesses, which she joined in the summer of 2026.
PSG lead again among the men
In the men's category Paris Saint-Germain was named the best club of the season for the second year in a row. Over the past season, the Parisians won five trophies: the Champions League, the French league, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the French Super Cup, with the main European club tournament won for the second consecutive time. Most of the PSG players missed the ceremony due to a home match against Lyon, which was moved to 26 October.
