The Judiciary Committee report
On October 26, Democrats on the Judiciary Committee of the US House of Representatives published a 53-page report, according to which five women accuse President Donald Trump of violence or sexual violence. Kun.uz reports this citing the Miami Herald. In total, the document mentions 11 women: five reported violence in interviews with newspapers, in lawsuits, or in conversations with committee staff, while three others told FBI agents about meetings involving Jeffrey Epstein at which Trump was present. The testimony of the remaining three women, who have made no public statements, is replaced in the report with materials from the Epstein case. According to the report, most of the described episodes date back to the 1990s.
A new accusation
As the Miami Herald notes, the report contains at least one new accusation. Former Miss Switzerland Beatrice Keul stated that in 1993, during a beauty pageant in New York, Trump raped her at the Plaza Hotel; the woman was left with bruises and contusions afterward. The authors of the document call for a criminal investigation into the president and the appointment of a special prosecutor.
Reaction and political context
The Miami Herald emphasizes that the report was published just 9 days before the midterm congressional elections, in which the House of Representatives will be up for grabs. The White House calls the document a politically motivated staging. Trump himself denies any involvement in crimes connected to Epstein and calls the story a 'hoax.' In January, the Department of Justice already rejected similar accusations against Trump, stating that they were 'baseless and false,' and that if there were even a shred of truth to them, they would long ago have been used against the president.
