The key facts
- The unofficial volume of Uzbekistan's digital advertising market exceeds $100 million
- Ad placements are handled through dozens and hundreds of channel administrators, with payments going to private cards
- The Blogix startup offers automation and AI to solve the transparency problem
A large but disordered market
In Uzbekistan, the influencer marketing market — advertising placements through bloggers and social media channels — is developing rapidly. According to unofficial estimates, the volume of this digital market has exceeded $100 million. At the same time, due to the relative youth of the industry, a significant part of it is still run by 'handmade' methods, notes Kun.uz.
Ad placement as 'manual labor'
For marketers, SMM specialists and business owners, placing ads via Telegram or Instagram often turns into a labor-intensive process: they have to negotiate separately with dozens, and sometimes hundreds, of channel administrators, haggle, transfer payments to private cards and manually monitor that publications go out on time. One of the project's co-founders, Abror Ismoilov, explains: 'One of the main problems of the advertising market is the lack of transparency. Trust is needed regarding fair pricing, open statistics and the security of funds. Placing an ad in 10 places means running 10 separate chats with admins. Multiply that by 100 — you can go gray at 30.'
Risks of the old model
The established model, built on correspondence and Excel spreadsheets, gives rise to a number of risks. First, it often happens that after payment the post never appears or deadlines are missed. Second, statistics are often unreliable, and the client has to rely only on visible numbers. Third, bureaucracy and the absence of official closing documentation become a serious obstacle for large corporate brands when allocating budgets.
Technology as a solution
Local startups offering technological solutions to bring transparency and order to the industry have become the answer to these problems. One such solution is the Blogix platform, created to reduce the influence of the human factor through automation and artificial intelligence. The editorial board notes: the market size figures cited in the publication are unofficial, and the source does not reveal the full picture of exactly how technology will change the industry.
Why it matters
A market worth over $100 million touches virtually any business in Uzbekistan that promotes itself through social media, as well as thousands of channel administrators and bloggers whose income depends on placements. It directly follows from the facts described in the publication that switching to automated platforms can reduce the risks of missed placements and unreliable statistics, and the emergence of official reporting could open the industry's access to corporate budgets that are currently held back by the lack of closing documents.
