Repair costs rise with vehicle age

The average cost of repairing commercial vehicles aged 10 to 14 years in Russia has reached almost 17.7 thousand rubles. This was reported to the Izvestia newspaper by analysts of Fit Fleet, a federal operator servicing corporate vehicle fleets. According to the study, the average repair bill for vehicles up to 3 years old is about 10 thousand rubles, for transport aged 4–5 years — 13.2 thousand rubles, and for vehicles aged 6–9 years — 15.8 thousand rubles. At the same time, the largest cumulative fleet expenses from January to July 2026 fell on vehicles younger than 3 years and aged 6 to 9 years.

Mileage is declining

Specialists recorded a decline in average mileage across all age groups: whereas in 2025 it amounted to 25.3 thousand kilometers, in the first seven months of 2026 it was 19.5 thousand kilometers.

Most frequent malfunctions

Among the most common malfunctions (excluding scheduled maintenance, refueling and seasonal services), wheel alignment adjustment and repair of brake mechanisms — replacement of pads, discs and related components — lead the list. The top five most frequent types of repair also included front suspension work, lamp replacement and repair of the engine as an assembly.

Comment from Fit Fleet

Dmitry Babaev, director of the corporate sales department at Fit Fleet, noted: “The statistics clearly reflect the current trend: companies are trying to operate their existing fleet as carefully as possible, which is why average mileage is decreasing, but the physical aging of equipment inevitably leads to more expensive repairs. When a vehicle crosses the 10-year mark, the average service bill becomes the highest.” According to him, for corporate fleets the data point to the importance of preventive maintenance and regular monitoring of the technical condition of vehicles — such measures help reduce the risk of major expenses on engine overhauls and ignition systems.
